Our Story
Since 1983, the Michigan Adult, Community & Alternative Education (MACAE) Association has been the leading voice and resource for education and workforce development professionals across the state.

Our mission centers on empowering professionals, strengthening programs, and advocating for equitable access to education and opportunity for all.

Today, MACAE represents more than 135 active member agencies and over 550 individual professionals—from directors and instructors to employment specialists and community advocates—all working together to transform lives across Michigan.

We support teachers, program leaders, and workforce partners by providing high-quality professional development, resources, training, advocacy, and networking opportunities.

As a practitioner-led, grassroots organization, we remain connected to the field we serve—equipping educators and program leaders with the tools, training, and support they need to help learners succeed.
