Members Discover netTrekker Resources Online

LearnPortAs those who participated in the webinar Get On Board with Online Learning discovered, netTrekker is an invaluable resource.

“This is an excellent collaboration of interactive resources that will help keep my attention, (and) problem students, more engaged,” one person said regarding their experience.

By visiting the Resources section of Michigan LearnPort, you can access the powerful search engine that helps teachers engage students with meaningful online content.  All resources in the search engine are vetted by experts so that content is safe, targeted and useful for classroom practice.

Searching for classroom resources can be done in a variety of efficient ways

  • Subject and reading level
  • Grade and state standards
  • Media type and source

This educational search tool for teachers can even help you track down useful lesson plans and assessments, as well as learning games and videos.  NetTrekker puts tools to differentiate your instruction within easy reach.  Content for ESL students is available in an array of languages such as Arabic, Spanish or Japanese.  Age appropriate content is easy to find for struggling readers, regardless of subject matter.

Keeping its audience of learners in mind, each age-group page is designed differently. The elementary student section is brightly colored with easy-to-read text. As the age of the student grows, the Web site design matures as well with more appropriate themes and text size. In addition to your general study sections, the middle- and high-school pages also include career resources that could help navigate a career choice.

Another benefit of this tool is its alignment to Michigan Grade Level and High School Content Expectations. Clicking on the Standards button enables you to find standard-specific resources.  The 21st Century Skills button introduces you to topics associated with teaching and learning 21st Century skills, including life skills, learning and innovation skills, and information and communication technology literacy skills.

Within netTrekker, members can save resources in My Portfolio, for an easy find later. The site also includes access to teaching tools such as classroom management, guidance and counseling, professional development and first-year teachers.  Other tools like Timeline, Famous Person Search and Image Search complement the multitude of other resources.

Whether you need to search for high-quality digital resources, differentiate your instruction, or organize your newly discovered resources, netTrekker helps you get connected and get results.
