Born in Detroit, Julie went on to attend Southwest Texas State University and Blinn College, in Texas. She has worked in community education for 19 years, and having served as Community Education Director for the past 4 ½, she’s found much inspiration.
“I think that the challenges presented on a daily basis are inspiring. Even better, is the ability to think abstractly and creatively to solve problems. I am also inspired by the community and our ability to serve their needs. As the face of the community changes, so must the programming that we offer to them,” she said.
As a board member, Julie would like to focus on MACAE’s finances this year to ensure that communities do not lose opportunities due to funding. Her overall goal for the board this year is to strengthen the MACAE organization through membership involvement.
“We have so much to offer our members and I do not always feel that they are aware of the opportunities available to them,” Julie said. |
