Born and raised in Detroit, Jaffiria became a Spartan Alumna, graduating from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Science, and a minor in English. She later earned her Master’s in Education-Secondary Mathematics at Wayne State University.
Jaffiria has been an educator with Detroit Public Schools for 36 years; 22 of which were in K-12. She has been an adult education administrator since 1995. A year later, she received the Booker T. Washington Educator’s Achievement Award for outstanding and dedicated service in adult education.
Since she became director of Adult Education for Detroit Public Schools in 2004, the number of GED and High School completion students has increased by 50 percent.
Jaffiria’s philosophy and mission are to “continue to offer adult education services that prepare students for success and to celebrate their accomplishments.” |
