MACAE would like to thank all participants, hole sponsors and supporters for making the 14th Annual Golf Outing a success. Held at breathtaking Yarrow Golf & Conference Resort in Augusta, Mich., the outing drew in close to $2,000 that will help keep MACAE’s mission moving forward. That simply would not have been possible without the noteworthy efforts of Event Chair Ruth Kemp and her dedicated colleague from Southgate Community Schools, Melanie Holland (who drives a mean golf cart).
Golfers could perfect their swing throughout the 18-hole scramble, where participants could also battle for such titles as Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. Winning the outing was the Novi team of Bob Steeh, Community Education Director, Frank Svechota, director of physical therapy at Providence Park Hospital, Carol Diglio, assistant Novi High School principal, and Curt Ellis, athletic director for Novi Schools.
After the challengers had finished their rounds, those in attendance had the opportunity to bid on some amazing items up for auction. Ralph Piepkow, representing the South Central Adult & Community Education Association was the lucky bidder for packages at both Crystal Mountain and Shanty Creek. Ed Gawlik of the Southgate School Board won four tickets to a Red Wings game.
A special thanks goes out to all who sponsored a hole and helped make the day possible. MACAE put out a call for sponsors and the Regionals came through with shining colors. We more than doubled hole sponsorship from last year! A big thank you to Alpha II, the Capitol Area Community & Continuing Education Association, the Genesee Adult & Community Education Association, a special friend of MACAE, the Michigan Alternative Education Organization, the Mid-Michigan Regional Community Education Association, the Northern Michigan Association of Community & Adult Education, the South Central Adult & Community Education Association, Christine and Ken Van Heel, the Western Michigan Community Education Coalition, and the Wayne Monroe Adult Alternative & Community Education Association.
Ruth and Melanie, all your hard work and dedication made this day enjoyable for all involved. Thank you many times over! |
