SPECIAL ANNUAL CONFERENCE EDITION

Discovery Café Session Sure to Motivate Action

Don’t let a late night at the WMCEC Afterglow reception keep you from experiencing the Discovery Café, facilitated by Kent Roberts of the National Civility Center. This is a very unique opportunity that you don’t want to miss!

Join us at 9 a.m., October 23, for this motivating session that will get your gears churning on how you can improve your program and help crystallize a vision for community education and MACAE as well. Although there may be different education strands, we are stronger when working together and need to support each other in every way possible to succeed. This Discovery Café does just that by grouping together participants of all backgrounds and honing in on questions that can provide a great takeaway at the end of the day.

Participants start off in small groups with a roundtable discussion answering the first question posed by the facilitator. The group shares their ideas for approximately 15 minutes before it is time for a table change. One person remains at the same table and the rest scatter to different tables, bringing with them all the ideas shared by their first group. At the second table, each new member can share their past group’s answer to the previous question before being given a new question to answer and discuss. Again there is a table change, and by the third round of questioning, the room is a large think tank, ideas buzzing across the tables and contributing to a constant flow of information.

This session is non-intrusive and allows everyone to have a say and discuss each question. As participants move from table to table, general themes begin to emerge. Each idea that is passed through a participant’s ear builds with the others for an ultimate idea-bank that will leave you brainstorming all the way home.
