Overview: This workshop is intended for Adult Educators who are responding to the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth (DELEG) Request For Proposal (RFP) for the No Worker Left Behind (NWLB) Adult Basic Education Pilot Project Grants due on December 8th, 2008. Ideally, participants should come to the workshop with their draft proposal, along with any questions they may have. The workshop facilitator will overview the grant intent, requirements, the seven Michigan Adult Learning System principles, partnership tools and strategies, and conclude with a questions and answers period.

Overview: With the economic downturn, rising unemployment rates, and the demand for more highly educated, skilled workers to compete a global marketplace, priorities are changing throughout the country. At both the state and federal levels, there is a growing emphasis on partnering with post-secondary institutions and job training programs to ensure that adults who complete their High School Diploma or GED are well prepared to succeed at the post-secondary level.
This workshop will focus on: 1) the "how to's" for building effective partnerships, 2) understanding changing expectations at state and federal levels, 3) early lessons from the NWLB Adult Education demonstration projects, and 4) better aligning with post-secondary programs. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to share ideas and effective approaches for continually evolving your programs to best serve our adult learners in these challenging times.
